The Church Continues — Project Folder

by | Jul 9, 2013 | Project Folders | 1 comment

This is the last of a series of 4 project folders I used when teaching the New Testament to 4th-6th graders. We were following the Amblified Bible Curriculum. Here is a PDF of the schedule we used: Schedule PDF.

I had set the class up in stations that each had review or memory work. This project folder was a way to put some of the activities into an attractive take home at the end of the quarter. I have uploaded most of my lesson plans for this study here: New Testament Lesson Plans. The activities in this project folder can be used individually if desired.

Chapters of Acts

The goal of this activity is to make the students aware of what is in each chapter of Acts. This project folder covers chapters 15-28. The previous project folder, The Church Begins, covered chapters 1-14. Chapters of Acts PDF

Roll Call of Faith

Hebrews 11 is one of my favorite passages. It not only teaches us what faith is but it is a great review of Old Testament lessons the kids have studied previously. To make it manageable, I chose the highlights of the chapter to include in the memory work. This activity is a layered book. It’s actually 2 layered books glued side by side on the project folder. Sorry, but I can’t share the pictures I used. I got them from the Illustrated Bible Timeline by Crystal Hunter.

Whole Armor of God

The Whole Armor of God is a great passage for students this age to memorize. It is not very long and is very visual and a topic children this age understand. Whole Armor of God PDF.

Project Folder 2nd Opening

Paul’s 3rd Journey

Paul’s 1st and 2nd journeys are covered in the previous project folder. The maps and Bible will be used to find out what happened in each city Paul visited on his journeys. Lift the flap and record that event. Paul’s 3rd and 4th Journey PDf

1 Corinthians 13

Another classic passage every student this age should memorize. This is a layered book that is laying sideways. To accommodate the size of the copy passages, I started the book on the right and move toward the left. This not only makes for easier copy work but gives the children a little variety in their work.

Project Folder Back Cover

The PDF for the back cover is with the front cover.

The bookmarks helped the students remember what they were to read. By the time they finished the entire series, they had read the whole New Testament. Bookmark PDF

The timeline gives the students a chance to keep things in order. I used pictures from the Bible Clip Art CD.

To help the students study their memory work at home, I gave them a memory book. Everything we were attempting to memorize during the quarter is in this book. It also insured that we all were using the same version of the Bible to memorize from. I used NKJV throughout this series.

The only requirement to get a sticker on the back of their project folder for memory work was to be able to recite the passage orally with minimal help. I encouraged them to take it a step further and write the passage from memory. This sheet could be used to either copy the passage for further help with memory or for writing it entirely from memory to cement it further in their minds. Copy/Memory Sheet PDF

Thanks so much for sharing all of your work! I can’t open the I Corinthians 13 pdf. Any ideas how I could access it? Thanks so much.
