God Will Take Care of You is a comforting hymn written by Civilla Martin. I have used it when studying about Jonah but it can be used with many Bible stories. One wonderful thing about songs/hymns is that you can remember the words so easily since it is rhythmic, rhyming and set to music. When times get hard and faith begins to wane, just remember this hymn. Think of what a gift you are giving your students. A hymn to strengthen them when times get hard.
The pictures for this flip chart came from the Thru-the-Bible coloring book published by Standard. There are two levels of coloring books and I believe I took pictures from both levels. If you don’t have these books, be sure to order them. They are a wonderful resource for modern day as well as Bible times pictures.
When making any flip chart, always put the words on the back of the cards. That’s what makes the flip chart so much more convenient than a regular book. To add the words to the back, stack the cards in order and write the words that go with the first picture on the back of the last card in the stack. Move the first picture to the back and write the words for the second card on the back of the card on the back of the stack (which is the first card). Keep doing this until all the words have been written.
Now, you can sing the song while showing the card without having to flip the card around to what it says. One other important thing to do is number the cards. There’s nothing like dropping the stack and having to put the cards in order with all those eager eyes waiting “patiently”. If the cards are numbered, it’s a breeze.
I have seen many flip charts connected with rings. I assume it is to keep the charts together. In my experience, they do not hold up to wear and tear and one or more rings always ends up missing. I prefer to store my flip charts in a ziploc baggie. Everything is kept safe and there aren’t any bulky rings causing difficulties.
Be not dismayed whate’er betide. God will take care of you;
Beneath His wings of love abide, God will take care of you.
God will take care of you, Thro’ ev’ry day, O’er all the way;
He will take care of you.
God will take care of you.
