Sequence Pictures

A great way to review a lesson after it has been taught is with sequence pictures. A small group of pictures that depict the main parts of the lesson encourages the child to think about the order of events, retell the story in their own words as they’re doing it. Having pictures small enough and few enough for young ones to handle makes this an ideal activity for the preschool class. Older children can handle more pictures in the sequence. The following pictures are of sequence cards I used in a preschool class. I like to make a larger version of the cards for me to demonstrate the activity before handing the children the smaller version.

Daniel Sequence Cards:

These are the larger sequence pictures I used. They are approximately 4″X5″. They were taken from Soul-ly For Kids, colored with colored pencils and reduced in size on the copier.

The small sequence cards are shown on top of the larger ones so you can see the size difference. The small cards are a little larger than a business card.

Each set of small cards are stored in snack baggies (don’t forget to snip the corner to let the air out) and then all are put in a pencil storage box. Be sure to label baggies as well as pencil box. The larger sequence cards are small enough to fit in the box as well. This is really nice when it’s time to do the lesson again a couple of years later.

 Jonah Sequence Cards:

These sequence cards are the same size as those above. Instead of being colored with pencils they were scanned into the computer and colored digitally. Pictures were again taken from Soul-ly for Kids.

The small sequence cards are added to show size difference. Once a set of cards is colored, it is easy to make them any size you need.

I had to show you this cute little box we found to put the Jonah sequence cards in. If you find something like this, grab it and use it. We also stored the Magnetic Puzzles for Jonah in boxes just like this.

Thank you, Melissa. I’m glad you have found some of the activities beneficial. Soul-ly For Kids is out of print but you might find some good visuals here: http://www.freebibleimages.org/
