Unknown God Put It In Order

This activity is quite challenging and can really only be done successfully after the student is either completely finsihed or close to being finished memorizing Acts 17:22-31. I’ve seen many students take it eagerly and begin work on it only to give up after a few minutes. It’s a very satisfying moment for teacher and student when one can complete it. Usually, when a student is to the level of being able to complete it, he can do it quite quickly.

Not only is this activity difficult for the student but it’s not the easiest one for the teacher to make. It is made like an accordion that has as many sections as there are cards to put in order. Cut poster board into the size cards you want. Place a paper clip in the center of each card. Cover with clear contact paper. Lay the cards side by side about 1/4″ apart. I believe I used electrical tape to connect them. The tape should go down the front and up the back to create a hinge. Do this until all the cards are connected.

Print out or write the passage on the cards. Place a small piece of magnet to the back of each card. I like to buy the business card magnets. They are just the right thickness and can easily be cut into the correct size. I would cut these in 8 pieces to use on cards this size.

The students place the cards in order. The magnet and paper clip helps to keep them in place. Store the activity in a large envelope. I used one that was much too small — not a good idea.

Now that I’ve given two negatives about this activity (difficult to make and difficult for students to do) don’t let that deter you from making something similar. The students who have completed it have been very pleased that they were able to do so. There’s nothing like tackling and conquering a difficult task. As for the difficulty for the teacher, once it’s made, it’s a very sturdy activity that won’t need any attention later.
