This back of the peek box is presented to the child first. It is the door of the inn. As we sing the first verse of the song (from TTWL), we knock on the table. “Knock, knock, knock. Knock, knock, knock. Joseph’s knocking, Joseph’s knocking, knock, knock, knock.”
The child is encouraged to open the door while we sing, “There’s no room. There’s no room. You can sleep out in the stable, there’s no room.”
The student turns the box around to find the stable. It’s very tempting to reach a tiny hand in to touch the animals. To avoid this, the students are taught to hold the box by placing a hand on each side.
It doesn’t matter how familiar you may be with a particular activity, there are always those days when the words and/or the music just don’t come to mind. Always, always, attach a cheat sheet for the song to be used with the activity. In this case, the song is placed on the top of the peek box.
I love everything about this!! Thanks for sharing this great idea
Thank you for your encouraging words.
