It’s important, no matter the age of the student, to have a routine in a Bible class. Not a regimented list of things that have to be done but a format that enable the students to know what to expect. Although, flexibility on the teacher’s part is essential. Students may have questions that need to be addressed or behavior issues that need to be modified. With that in mind, we will, as usual, start our class with a review of the books of the Old Testament.
Old Testament Books:
We’ve been singing the song while students point to each book on our pocket chart. Then the students will get the opportunity to move their bookmark forward and, as time allows, add to their paper chains.
Sing: God Had a Plan by Glenda Schales
17 Time Periods: Link to my version of hand motions and song — 17 Time Periods video.
Review Previous Lessons Using: I have previously used the Complete Cycle Spiral from Creation to Revelation for review but last week I created a Power Point with the pictures from the digital license I have to make it easier to focus on one picture at a time.
Lesson: Wilderness Wanderings
Discuss Passover, God provides food and water, Israelites are unthankful, Moses sins and not allowed to enter promised land.
Sing: Murmur, Mumble, Mope and Mourn Glenda Schales wrote this great song about the unthankfulness of the Israelites. Everyone needs to learn it!
Bulletin Board Activity: Add Wandering in the Wilderness picture. Let students take turns putting small pictures in the correct pocket.
Review: Pocket Cubes — last time we used these we just had 2 cubes. This time there will be 3. The third cube will have instructions for the manner that the answer should be given: whisper answer, sing answer, hop on one leg while giving answer, write answer on white board, tell someone else to answer, after answering take another turn.
Hymn: We’ve been singing This Is My Father’s World during the month of April. For May we will sing Dare To Stand Like Joshua. Link to John Roger’s recording on Youtube.
Old Testament Challenge: Give some time to add paper chains.
