When all that generation had gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which He had done for Israel. Judges 2:10
The people had accepted the covenant with God that He would be their King. They worshipped and served Him. So what happened? They failed to teach their children about God. Thus starts the downward spiral we find in Judges. Each judge was an answer to the cries of repentance after once again God’s people turned their backs to Him.
